FORUM RULES AND GUIDELINES

Postby =H=Danny » Mon Feb 28, 2011 4:23 am

Make sure you are posting constructive criticism, whether it's negative or positive. Contrary to what some people believe, we do take feedback from here into account.

Notice: Administrators/Moderators reserve the right to change/edit/delete any content at any time if they feel it is inappropriate.

I. General Forum Rules:

Do not:
Flame or insult other members.
Bypass the swear filter or other filters.
Abuse or encourage abuse of the Reputation, Post Reporting, or Private Messaging Systems
Post personally identifiable information (i.e. name, address, email, phone number, etc.)
Bump old threads unless you have a good reason.
Derail a thread's topic.
Post links to phishing sites.
Post spam (i.e. +1, 10char, rickrolls) or Re-post Closed, Modified, Deleted Content
Openly argue with a moderator. Contact the Moderator via a private message.
Share your account. Forum accounts are intended for the use by one person.
Create alternate, backup, or multiple accounts.
Publicly post or otherwise share PMs with other users unless you have the expressed permission of the sender to do so. Private Messages are intended to be just that - private.

II. The following topics are strictly off limits, including in external links:

Porn, gross stuff, or anything else not safe for work
Piracy, warez, Leaked content
Cheating, hacking, game exploits
Threats of violence or harassment, even as a joke
Posting copyrighted material such as magazine scans
Soliciting, auctioning, selling, advertising, referrals
Racism, discrimination
Drugs, alcohol
Religious, political, and other “prone to huge arguments” threads

III. Posting:

- Always search before you make a new thread, search through both topic titles and messages. Only if you're sure the topic hasn't been made before should you make a new thread about it.
- Always give your thread title a descriptive and relevant name so its easier for people searching to find it! If you're posting a video, for example, have the name of the video as the thread title.
- Speak plain English and make your posts as easily understandable as possible by using paragraphs, emphasis and being succinct (to the point).
- Avoid overusing swear-words and other graphic words.
- Avoid double posting, it irritates some people. Use the edit button instead.
- Don't post just to get your post count up. Try to add something worthwhile to the thread.
- Don't post any unsolicited ads. If someone asks you what brand of a certain product you like, it's fine to tout the glories of brand X.
- Give significant warning before posting spoilers!

IV. No Backseat Moderating:

Let the Forum Moderators do the moderating. Backseat Moderating is when people who are not Moderators try to enforce the forum rules. Whenever you see a person breaking the rules, take advantage of the "Report this post to a moderator" link. Or simply IGNORE the offensive post(s) or thread. The most common backseat reply is the "+1 in before lock" phrase. Backseat moderating is annoying, and pointless.

V. Report Post to the Moderators:

Should you observe a fellow forum member breaking these rules please report the post by clicking the Report Post button "" located to the left of every post, or feel free to contact any of the Forum Staff.

VI. Lifetime Achievement Award:

Users who are found to be repeat offenders will be removed from the forums.

VII. Conduct:

- Try to avoid personal conflicts wherever possible, exchanging opinions is fine but it should always remain civil.
- If you don't like a thread, don't post there.
- In general, go with the flow of the thread. If it's a serious thread, don't post a ton of memes and derail it. If it's a goofy thread, don't get on your high horse and say that it's too silly. If it's a thread that's about a relative dying, (which is not really a good idea for a thread), then don't start saying it's no big deal and the OP is being emo, and should get over it.
- Don't correct another member's grammar/spelling, unless it is requested such as a fanfic.
- Don't post harmful advice, such as 'Delete system32'.
- If you cannot say what you need to say in more than 5 characters, don't bother posting. Do not say 5char or any variation.
(Seriously, instead of saying "No" why can't you say "No, he isn't" instead?)
